None of us are complete, no matter who resides within our lives. A natural urge to fill empty caverns within our hearts drives us to satisfy demands. With this in mind, head forth with caution. Remember, when pride effortlessly leads us astray, we are at greater risk of seeking relief in the wrong places.
Remain Watchful
Your ego will spoon-feed you with lies. Here is a common one, “Those holes don’t matter.” A second prevalent lie, “You don’t need help.” And yet a third, “You can make it on your own.” Keep up your guard for such endless treacheries.
If you heed these harmful statements before you realize what is happening, you will get lost. Subsequently, your misguided self will grope through life, searching in complete darkness for a single spark of illumination. Consider gasping for an essential breath of fresh air when your oxygen supply is cut off. Soon, you would become rendered too weak to open the spigot. Relying on someone else to set you free would be your only hope. Consequently, we cannot fulfill this intense and necessary drive alone. And that is why we need a Savior, the only source of True Light.

Alexandra
Today, I wish to scratch the surface of a different character, Alexandra, Dakota’s mother.
Alexandra’s motivation stemmed from her quest to find the missing pieces of her heart. She ached to fill the gaping holes brought on by wounds caused by her family of origin. This type of pain rings far too familiar to me.
Alexandra is caught in a snare such as this. She remains trapped, unable to move forward and heal, with no way to fill her vast holes. She suffers from a desperate need to stop that seepage of pain. And, like many of us, Alexandra sought fulfillment in the wrong places and from the wrong people.
Villains Lie in Wait
None of us will navigate life without somewhere along the way stumbling into a similar desperate situation. When you do, proceed with caution. Because if you do not, you will become vulnerable to the villains who lie in wait within the vast halls of darkness. These fraudsters’ goals are to trip you up and lead you astray through their deceptions.
Unresolved Wounds
Unresolved past wounds left Alexandra feeling orphaned and susceptible. So, like all of us, she sought opportunities to rid herself of such heartbreak. For Alexandra, a yearned prospect came in the form of Aldous, the older man across the street whom she befriended. Unaware of who this man was, like most of us, Alexandra placed upon Aldous the characteristics she sought. Furthermore, she did this hoping to fulfill her fantasy and ease her pain.
And here is where the beauty of fiction steps in. Situations like I described through Alexandra are usually a set-up for failure and tragedy. It is much easier to have a writer point the way toward God for their character than for us on our own to hear our Savior’s voice.
Shatter Links of Abuse
As I have stated before, I write with a purpose, which is to help people shatter links of abuse and heal. I pray my written words will open people’s eyes. So much harm then would be avoided, and healing could occur. Anyone can seek enlightenment with the same intensity as they seek to fill their gaping holes. Turning to Christ Jesus is the only way to achieve this goal.
