How to Cleanse Your First Perception of God.

How does someone cleanse their first perception of God? I had heard that our first perception of God comes from our childhood relationship patterned by our father. Those raised by a kind, loving father are blessed to have that essential tool in forming a close connection with their God from the start. However, I was not given such a blessing.

God’s Classroom

The “God” exemplified to me was one of vengeance who instilled fear in me to the point of phobias. Many have commented that it is nothing short of a miracle that I have drawn so near to my Savior. They have stated this as a direct result of the environment I grew up in. I never fell away from my God—ran away, maybe a better term—because of the easy access I’ve always had to northern wilderness regions. Trees and nature became my escape. Hidden under their canopy, I sought my God. My Heavenly Parent turned the outdoor environment into my classroom. And through elements of truth illustrated through nature, I grew to know my Lord.

An Illustration

One of these nature-illustrated truth factors is the concept of the Holy Trinity. I came to know my God as Three-In-One by observing how everything in God’s creation exists in three forms. Whether something takes the shape of a solid, liquid, or gas does not matter. The reason for this is because it remains consistent, like our Savior.

Regardless of the form, it still contains the same elemental makeup. For example, let’s use water. We all know that when water turns into its solid form, it becomes ice. When the ice melts, it becomes the liquid we drink. In addition, that liquid flows through our cells, making up about 60% of our bodies. Then heat that same water, and it transforms into steam, a form of gas.

In conclusion, I use this simple illustration to exemplify our Lord. No matter what form our lives take, we all are children of the same, consistent God. Our Maker’s love reaches out with identical intensity to us all, regardless of what we have done.

Why Advocate

God’s unceasing love is one reason I continue to write on the controversial topic of abuse. That theme also runs deeply throughout my books The Hidden Diamond and Robin’s Gift. I do this because I have lived on the side of the victim and know how it taints a person’s existence. My sister, CD Kreger, also advocates in this area, as an outcome of our shared childhood abuse. She authored her recently published book Face the Storm, Amazon.com: C D Kreger: books, biography, latest update.

I write because I don’t want to keep the secret. I don’t want to be an enabler by clamping my lips shut, for every closed mouth supports the perpetrator. My sister and I share a united mission—to end the ugly stain of abuse and help its victims recover. We know first-hand how this plague shatters lives. My books and blog posts shout my commitment to giving a voice to the voiceless.

The Consistent Nature of God

Let’s swing back to the three-in-one topic I started this blog with. Like with every element, God’s nature does not change. Our Maker’s love remains consistent. Wherever you are in your healing journey, you are never alone. The Holy Spirit remains at your side with an open hand, waiting for you to reach out and grasp onto it.
