Why Make the Unpopular Choice to Forgive? – Be Fearless!

Why Make the Unpopular Choice to Forgive? This question has been asked me multiple times while writing The Hidden Diamond. As a result, some who know the truth behind this work of fiction cannot read it. Furthermore, they claim their reasoning lies within the twist of forgiveness I have placed within my book’s chapters.

Everyone who asked me why I chose to forgive has also suffered victimization. In addition, those who asked have one undesired key element in common with me—the same man molested us all. That person’s sick-laced pleasure-fulfillment needs wove strands of poison tightly into the fabric of his victims. As a result, he crippled us for life. No one could calculate how many lives this particular individual shattered. One can only surmise the quantities have reached staggering levels. I wrote The Hidden Diamond for the astounding number of children he and others like him have harmed. Also I fashioned it from the first-person point of view, focusing on forgiveness to point a way toward freedom. https://www.crystalmmhuntley.com/about-the-book/

A Want to Heal.

I wanted to heal and did not want to carry these abusive-caused stains for life. Atrocious acts, like those committed during my childhood, can not be carried out without accomplices. In fact those who chose to become accessories are just as guilty of the alleged crime. They allowed it to happen, and some even collaborated. Crimes like this do not occur single-handedly. Somewhere along the line, allies are involved. From now on, I will refer to my perpetrator by “Aldous,” the name used in my book.

Discover the Naked Truth.

I went through my unrelenting battle to discover the naked truth of my childhood. This act proved extra challenging because two collaborators of “Aldous” went to great extremes to falsely program my brain. To mask reality, they imprinted me with the belief that I lived a life blessed above all others. They went to enormous levels to overpack my thoughts with such outrageous lies, leaving no space to allocate for truth. Ultimately, they did this action for their own protection, not mine. No matter how hard a person may attempt to disguise reality, they cannot succeed. In time truth always seeps out.

Like most people who have lived through trauma, I reacted in a very typical way. Throughout many decades, my mind remained a shattered blank slate, blocking out vast moments from my childhood. But hints of the truth persisted. I know something was terribly wrong, but I couldn’t figure out what. As I began my healing journey, I gained strength. With this gathered strength, bit by bit, I could face the truth of my past. Memories returned, and I went through an investigation to confirm accuracy.

God Loves Us No Matter What.

Here comes the part where I disclose why I wrote The Hidden Diamond from a first-person perspective. As I healed, I saw with clarity that Aldous, somewhere within his life, also had to have been a victim. Consequently, this would have been a necessary ingredient to transform into the monster he became, who preyed on children.

I started to see Aldous and other villains from my life as young, innocent children, beloved by their Maker. Seeing these villains in this light, I reflected this thought onto my children. My love for them is so great it will not lessen. This rings true no matter what they have done or may do in the future. I ache immensely as a result of some of the choices they have made. Yet, my love never wavers. In much the same way, God loves us, no matter what atrocious behaviors we have engaged in. All God desires is for us to turn toward Him and come home.

I wanted my book, The Hidden Diamond, to appeal to victims and perpetrators. Through the beauty of fiction, I changed the end of Aldous’s story from something tragic to a reason to rejoice. By doing this, hopefully, those who read it, whether victim or perpetrator, will tend to that spark of truth within them and change the ending of their story before it’s too late. Being brave to make such a change is how we become the hero of our own tale.
