Have You Ever Wondered How to Find a Better Angle

We all learned in grade school how Earth’s gravity pulls everything toward its surface. In much the same way, human beings tend to get pulled downward into states of negativity.

Road Games

Likewise, similar tedium can easily accompany long road trips. During my younger years, people battled this boredom by playing various road games. Slug Bug, I Spy, or License Plate topped the list of activities to help temper the passage of time. These old-fashioned road games indicate a simpler time. One that occurred before everyone, young and old alike, became armed with their very own personal computer mechanism.

Our beloved home where we live exists in a beautiful, deeply secluded, isolated territory. As a result, often, we must drive many hours along sparsely traversed roads through national forests to go anywhere. Only a speckling of remote towns pops up here and there among this vast wooded acreage. Therefore, to more quickly pass the time, we play our own version of a road game. This game consists of seeking out specific trees among the forest edge. Service Berry and Tamarack Larches have lately been our favorite standouts to search for. The tree we choose depends on the time of year.

Waging War Against Negativity

As we participate in this game, our mind diverts from the negativity of another long road trip. Instead, the stunning beauty that surrounds us draws us into its grasp. The soft-green Paper Birch leaves contrast among proud Norwegian Pines standing like a barrage of soldiers. This activity also helps us to remain alert for deer that frequently dart out into the road. Consequently, such vigilance in our surroundings rewards us. We don’t miss the eagle soaring through the sky or along the road edge as it enjoys its prey.

Find Good Through a Different Angle

Every day, ample reasons to justify clinging tight to an array of negativity surround us. They shout at deafening decibels. As a result, a frequent need to get that negativity out accumulates. But we must be careful when expressing cynicism that we do not spew it onto those around us. We also must use caution to limit our time spent in this negative state. We will always find the good if we angle our sight slightly toward a different direction. As a result, instead of seeing endless miles of lonely, dense forest, we spot the magical Service Berry trees that exist within.

Alexandra

In my book, The Hidden Diamond, Alexandra teaches Dakota this valuable skill of finding the good in all. She uses the analogy of a diamond shining with God’s love placed within the heart of everyone. ABOUT THE BOOK The trials of our world notoriously conceal our inner diamonds. Hence, it is up to us to maintain our precious jewel by cleansing it from worldly gu

Find Your Tools

I have many tools I use when in need of extra help to improve my viewpoint angle. The mind can only sustain one dominant thought at a time. Because of this, uplifting music is an excellent tool to drown out unwanted and often damaging thoughts. A favorite song of mine that got me through an intensely arduous timeframe is “Surrounded” by Michael W Smith. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=michael+w+smith+surrounded&view=detail&mid=DF8571446DACFEAF4619DF8571446DACFEAF4619&FORM=VIRE0&ru=%2fsearch%3fpglt%3d41%26q%3dmichael%2bw%2bsmith%2bsurrounded%26cvid%3d6f5957e3649d47dbb30ce8ca1c6aeb2a%26aqs%3dedge.1.69i57j0l8.14086j0j1%26FORM%3dANNTA1%26PC%3dHCTS

I encourage you to seek out tools that work for you and claim them as your favorites. Use them often and marvel at the difference they make.

Look, and what you are looking for you will find. Knock, and the door you are knocking on will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 (ISV)
